Africa and Abandoned Theme Park

1.  The pictures that Nick Brandt took were deep, they showed the wild life in Africa and gave it a new view point. He cares for the animals so much that he will wait 17 days to take a picture of a lion, all because he loved it's face and that, to me, is pretty inspiring. In the pictures he took, I saw the wild life plus a little bit more. There was drama in the pictures, like the animals were thinking about something that is/was going on in their life.
2.
In this picture that Nick Brandt took, a lioness and her cub are together, the lioness is nuzzling her cub while the cub looks at the camera. I really like this picture because it focuses on two lions out of the whole pack, it shows the caring mother and the little cub who could be troublesome or very obedient. The rest of the pack is laying down and in the background, putting more of the focus on the cub and its mother.
3. The rule in this picture is balance, simplicity, and lines; the other lions in the background even the background out, putting more of the focus on the two; because the picture is zoomed in on, or more focused on the two lions which makes it simplicity; the grass on the bottom of the picture leads up to the two lions so leading lines are introduced.
4. Nick Brandt used a Pentax 67 system and possibly the normal lens, or he could've used the P67 120mm soft focus lens. The camera and lens are important when taking a picture because different lenses help for taking different kinds of pictures, like motion, soft focus, focus in general, still, light etc. same with the camera too.
5, 6, 7. Nick takes these pictures of the wild life in Africa because he's moved by them, theres "something deep and emotionally stirring" with the wild life in Africa. Nick is trying to save the animals basically while he captures the beauty of Africa. He's saying that because of all the poaching the wild life in decreasing so much and the crops aren't really growing because of global warming. "I'm not interested in creating work that is simply documentary or filled with action and drama, which has been the norm in the photography of animals in the wild. What I am interested in is showing the animals simply in the state of being—before, in the wild at least, they cease to exist." -Nick Brandt

Abandoned Theme Parks
1. I would go to the Six Flags in New Orleans because of the "Main Street", it offers so much like its beauty, its great for framing, and there are so many shots that can be taken there. The abandoned rides there seem like they can offer so much more than looking broken down and destroyed, instead of taking the pictures of the rides at sundown and getting the really creepy effect, I would take the pictures in the morning or afternoon because then the light can show so much more. The rides can give off different emotions rather than creepy, they can give off something more curious.

2. Five cool and interesting places to take pictures would be the Whitehaven Beach in Australia, Kaieteur Falls in Guyana, the Five color Turquoise lake in the Jiuzhaigou National Park located in China, Thor's Well, and the Zakynthos Island in Greece.
This is a picture of "Thor's Well", which is a hole int he ocean, taken by Majeed Badizadegan.

3. I think that this place would be amazing to take pictures of because of how it makes people go "Whoa..." in awe. It would also be fun and a bit dangerous to go to the body of water in which the hole lays. Thor's Well is near Cape Perpetua in Oregon, so it probably isn't that dangerous, but it would be so much fun to go to the cape to take pictures of it. There can be a person on the other side of the hole to scale it. The water looks like mist thats being sucked into the hole never to be seen again, it makes me want to go and see where the mist/water goes, its like an adventure but not really.
4. If I were to go to Oregon, I would need a ticket to fly over, a camera and lens that would be good to take pictures of water and freeze the motion behind the focus. Expenses wise, I think the price would be well over $1,000 by far. I would need a way to get out to Thor's Hole, waterproof equipment, a place to stay, food, etc.

Funny Captions

Here we have Ann (woman on the left) and Marcie (woman on the right) at Ann's 78th birthday party  taking a picture in a photo booth, but they only have one more time to take a nice picture and Marcie decides, as Ann's best friend, to mess it up and tries to hide her laughter before the photo snaps; Ann finds out right before the picture is taken, turns and yells asking why Marcie messed it up. Ann is going to go to Europe with her second husband because he got a great job offer and she really wants a nice picture of hereof and Marcie to take with her so she remembers being with her on this day, kind of like a birthday present to herself.
Sophie and Maxine decided that they were going to go into the ocean and wait for Atlantis to rise. That morning they had been read a horrible story and they wanted to be washed away, disappearing with Atlantis.
Here at Holby City Hospital, we don't care if you have Alzheimer's disease, it doesn't matter if you end up getting lost because you're going to go to hell one way or another. Citizens have been calling Holby City Hospital hell for centuries.

Mural Project and Great Black and White Photographer part 3

1. I think that the theme that we could take around the school for the mural project is anything "artsy." It should be something that shows emotion, that means something more than the photo really is. Its hard to explain because when pictures are in black and white they end up being more powerful than pictures with color.
2. We should be able to use both phone cameras and regular cameras, but it should be up to the person taking the pictures to decide what they want to use.
3. Maybe the mural should go by/near the main entrance so its in a place where most people can see it.

GREAT BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHERS PART 3

1. Minor White's photos just caught my interest, nothing in particular really caught my eyes. I guess his photos just gave off more meaning than if someone else were to take the exact same picture.

 2. (First picture) I see the rays of the sun beating down on a mountain through the clouds, telling people to look at the mountain's beauty when really its the rays of light that hold the most beauty in the picture. A river is running to the mountain, or away from it, leading people back to the mountain regardless of where its true destination really is. The trees surround the mountain and river, holding the animals in and giving them a home, giving the mountain something to look and be proud upon.
I smell the air surrounding the forest, the freshness of the air is refreshing. The fish in the river give off a slightly potent smell once I find myself standing beside it, the algae in the river give it an even more potent smell. But the air that surrounds the mountain gives off the smell of rock being torn away at by the animals that climb it every so often.
I hear the wind blowing through the branches of the trees and hitting into something, creating a small "whoosh. Animals secretly crawl around gathering food, communicating to one another in their own language. The mountains softly groans as parts of it's rocks hit the ground with a soft-or loud-"thud".
I taste the fresh air in the forest. It tastes like a refreshing, soft but slightly bitter like coffee in the morning. I also taste the water from the river as it runs past me bit by bit.
I feel the soft dirt that surrounds the mountain and forest, some of it may be patted down from the animals running around, but its still soft. I feel the icy cold water coat my hand as I stick it into the river, cupping it so I can get a small drink. I also feel the warmth from the rays of the sun beating down onto my back from being split by the clouds.

(Second picture) I see the road looking like it will go on forever and ever, giving me no clue of where I shall end up next. The trees that surround it look like cotton that has been pulled in every direction, forcing it to look like a branch on a tree. The branches from the trees stretch up into the sky, leading my eyes to the clouds rolling above in the pretty blue sky.
I smell a slight hint in the air that it could rain soon. The air carries it around as it blows into my face also making me smell the grass that keeps the path from expanding too far in width. There are birds flying around, some carrying berries which also mixes into the air just ever so slightly.
I hear the birds flying past me, letting the wind guide them back to their nest. The wind blows softly into my ears, whispering and telling me to keep following the path. I go a bit off of the path and into the grass which my feet crush, creating a crunch when I step on the dead blades of the grass.
I taste the moist in the air that makes it seem like the place where the path is is humid. When I open my mouth to breathe in, a small leaf lands on my tongue. Bitter spreads across my tongue and I spit it out.
I feel the blades of grass cut into my bare feet when I walk onto the grass, some leave small indents on my feet. The wind surprisingly softly slaps me in the face telling me to get back on the path and to keep walking. The path welcomes me back by bringing a sharp pain into my left foot, the gravel sticks to my foot making it harder and harder to keep on walking. My legs begin to feel sore, but I keep walking because the wind and path want me to.

Academic-Post Shoot

For this photo I used the rule of simplicity. The subject of the photo is hard to tell unless the one viewing the photo has been in the room before, but the girl in the navy blue shirt is sitting down working on something. When people look at this photo, the subject is clear-unless they want to look at the beautiful lamp-because she's taking up most of the space in the photo. In this photo its hard to tell what the girl is doing. Is she working on a paper, a computer, a drawing etc.? The computer she's working on was covered up by another girl who I cut out of the picture because she was distracting.

In this photo the rule of balance is applied because theres the French teacher and the students evenly balancing the photo out. The subject is the class itself, not something in particular. Theres not one person being focused on in this photo. When people look at this photo the subject should be clear. There's french on the board not a world map, math/numbers, music etc.

The rule for this photo is simplicity because the guy is in focus and not in the background blurred out. The subject is hard to tell what it is because the viewer cannot see whats on the paper he's holding, or the paper at all. Regardless, the subject is choir. It is not that clear to people what the subject really is. I could've included the sheet music that the guy is looking at so he can sing.

For this photo the rule is leading lines because of the tree the person is painting is leading to their hand which holds the paintbrush that points back to the painting. The subject is art, painting specifically. The person is holding a paintbrush and painting a tree. The subject is clear when people are looking at the photo.

THE PHOTOS BELOW ARE FOR FUN AND ONES I REALLY LIKE CAUSE THEY'RE FUNNY.

Its one of the choir teachers, he looks hella funny. No, this was not photoshopped in.
Self explanatory.

Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO

APERTURE

1. Aperture in the camera is like our pupils, deciding what amount of light to let in. If there is too much light, the background can be blurry.
2. The smaller the Aperture number, the higher the Aperture size will be.
3. If there is a smaller aperture, which lets more light in, and there's already enough light, then the background will be more blurry and not as "good." The Depth of Field is not just the focus of the picture, but everything in it.

ISO
1. An advantage of using a higher ISO during a sporting event is that it will come out better, there won't be as much motion blur because if the ISO is higher than the base, the speed will be a fraction of a a second instead of a second or more.
2. The author said that if someone is using a lower ISO, than the picture won't add more "noise" to it. They also basically said that lower ISO is more for when things aren't moving as fast, or not at all.
3. The author said that using a higher ISO is more for when the object is moving at a faster speed and a second would be too long and create motion blur. When theres a fraction of a second needed to take the picture the ISO needs to be higher.
